I started jumping at Moncks Corner, SC in 1969. The FBO was Geno Lucarelli flying a Cessna 206. My jumpmaster was Zeke. Gatewood Smith packed my first malfunction for my second jump. Charlie Hall, the Charleston weatherman and former Golden Knight was often there. I was in the plane when Atty. Joe Shine made his first jump. I was also a regular at Barnwell, Bill Jones was often there, and Wing's and Wheel's in Santee. My first square jump was on Joe Morgan's Black,Orange,White Paraplane that also appeared on the cover of Parachutist Magazine, 1970.

I was stationed at Ford Hood, Tx from July 60 -63. Became a member of Hort Hood Skydivers in 1961. The club was started by Sgt. Jean Ritchey and Col. Pritchard. I made several demonstration jumps. The most memerable were at Cannon Air Base in New Mexico and an Air Force Base in Waco Texas where the whole club jumped from a C47 at once. Jean Ritchey and I landed next to each other. He fell on his butt and I made a stand-up landing in front of the base commander.
My Faverate chute was a Seven TU That a bought from Army surpluse for twenty eight dollars and cut and modified it myself. I never have jumped a modern chute but I am still young. 66.

My first jump was with the Ft. Hood Sky Divers in 1964.  I bought a hot 7 T-U and after 6 mos. racked up 152 jumps.  Some of the guys we jumped with were Gene Ritchie, Jerry Ryburn, and Pat Works from A & M.  I made the Ft Hood Demo team and got to do alot of strip mall openings and goat ropings.  Got some neat air craft loged.  H37, H21, Caribou, otter, beaver, C 119, C 47 etc.

Later I was with Cliff Davis, Karen Bilder and Richard "choo choo"[condo] Whitehill in TX and OK.  Shinnin' times had by all.
