Well, I just found this web site and I am ecstatic.  As a kid I remember so many of you.  Oh, my gosh to see Barb Roquemore, not sure if she would remember the toe-head blond daughter of Harry & Lou Johnston.  Course I've grown out of that blond.

Jerry Rouillard, if you only knew how excited my sister Lynn would get when we knew you would be in town and having dinner at our home.  I remember how my parents would have to kick her under the table to quit starring at you.

Sadly, both mom & dad are gone as well as many other members of the team.  I do keep in contact with a few of the guys from the team and I always love to hear the stories.  I was literally born and raised into sport skydiving, as I will admit my age of 49yrs young and like many of you have enjoyed seeing the sport evolve over the years.

I look forward to keeping in contact with this web site, as I would love to hear from any of you.

Sincerely,

Mary Ann Johnston

youngest daughter of Harry & Lou Johnston

Made my first jump at Sicily DZ, Ft Bragg, 16 January 71 out of a UH1H.  Bill Knotts was my JM.

I have some sad news to report.

Skip Gallagher, who (active duty) managed the XVIII Corps SPC then and trained most of in that time period (under Bobby Horn) was killed 13 September 2011 in Wichita KS due to a dual malfunction (apparently.  Still under investigation)  Skip had over 4000 jumps and was a Viet Nam veteran of the 101st Airborne.'

Blue skies, Skip,

Made my first jump at Elsinore early summer of 1959, Eddy Duncan sucked me right in, telling me how easy it was. I practiced PLF's of a picnic table at Whittier Narrows park for 30 min. and off we went to Elsinore. My "friend" Eddy told me it would be best if I used  his T-10,no mods, because it would bring me down so soft. The pilot was Larry Perkins, and Bud Kieso tapped me out. They, however failed to tell me how fun a T10 was when landing in 15+ mph wind. After about a half mile of dragging my sorry butt over the lake bed I experienced the wonders of the BARB WIRE FENCE.
After the laughter stopped, they took me back to the hanger and Vern Williams said" I guess you might have been better using a 28 footer with T Slots" oh well. This was, of course followed up be the mandatory trip to Jack's Sportsman bar for the ritual shot, oh and be sure to try one of these famous Jacks PICKLE CHIPS. Last time I ever fell for that one. I finally had to hang it up about 1978 or79. I still remember a lot of the old originals and all the good times , and bad ones too, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything. Does any body know if Tony (tony balony) Lemus is still with us? Hard to realize this was over 50 years ago.  I will appreciate hearing from anybody who still remembers those ancient times.  Regards, Ralph
